Step-by-Step Instructions for Beef Skillet: Fast and Hearty
  1. Heat the skillet by drizzling olive oil into a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Allow the oil to heat for about 1 minute until shimmering.
  2. Add the ground beef and break it into large chunks. Cook undisturbed for about 3 minutes until browned on the bottom, then stir to cook evenly for another 2-3 minutes until fully browned.
  3. Push the beef to the sides of the skillet. Add diced yellow onion and cook for about 3 minutes until translucent. Stir in minced garlic, smoked paprika, and dried oregano, sautéing for another minute.
  4. Pour in beef broth, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom. Bring to a gentle simmer for about 1 minute.
  5. Stir in thawed frozen peas and carrots along with pre-cooked rice. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Cover for a couple of minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
