Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, grated onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  3. Shape the mixture into thick patties, about 1 inch thick.
  4. Sear the patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  5. In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to create a roux.
  6. Gradually whisk in beef broth and then heavy cream, seasoning with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  7. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the gravy thickens.
  8. Layer the seared patties in the greased baking dish and pour the gravy over them.
  9. Sprinkle cheese over the top and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  10. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
