Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium-low heat, add sliced onions and a drizzle of olive oil. Stir occasionally for about 20–30 minutes until golden brown.
  2. While the onions are caramelizing, heat another pan over medium heat and add ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine caramelized onions, browned beef, uncooked rice, and broth. Stir until mixed well.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake for 45 minutes.
  5. Allow the casserole to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
