Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Swap with gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 large Egg Flaxseed meal works as a vegan alternative.
  • ¾ cup Feta Cheese Try dairy-free cheese if lactose intolerant.
For the Aromatics
  • 2 cloves Garlic Freshly minced; garlic powder can be used.
  • 1 medium Onion Diced, shallots can be a substitute.
  • ¼ cup Parsley Fresh; dried herbs can also be used.
For Crispiness
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Avocado oil is a great alternative.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine your choice of ground meat with breadcrumbs, egg, crumbled feta cheese, minced garlic, diced onion, and chopped parsley. Mix until everything is thoroughly incorporated.
  2. Wet your hands slightly, scoop about a tablespoon of the mixture, and roll into a ball about 1 inch in diameter. Place on a baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Place meatballs in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  5. Check for doneness; meatballs should be browned and internal temperature should be 160°F (71°C). Return to air fryer for an additional 2-3 minutes if needed.
  6. Carefully remove meatballs from air fryer and serve warm with tzatziki sauce, crumbled feta, and parsley. Great with a Greek salad.
