Step-by-Step Instructions for Crispy Tofu Bites
  1. Wrap a block of extra-firm tofu in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy weight on top for 15-20 minutes to press out excess moisture.
  2. Once pressed, slice the tofu into uniform 1-inch bite-sized cubes.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine cornstarch and garlic powder, then dredge each tofu cube in the mixture.
  4. Heat neutral oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet until it reaches 350°F (180°C).
  5. Add coated tofu cubes in small batches to the hot oil and fry for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove fried tofu bites with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving.
