- In a medium bowl, beat 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, ½ cup of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. Stir in ¼ cup of strawberry jam or diced strawberries.
- Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center. Moisten edges with water, fold over to form a triangle, and press edges firmly to seal.
- In a deep skillet, pour enough vegetable oil to be at least 2 inches deep and heat to 350°F (175°C). This should take about 5-7 minutes.
- Carefully add 4-5 wonton bites at a time and fry for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- For a lighter option, preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place wontons on a parchment-lined baking sheet and lightly spray with cooking spray. Bake for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through.
- Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar, strawberry sauce, or whipped cream.
