Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and prepare three 9-inch cake pans by greasing and lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, prepare the vanilla cake mix according to the package instructions. Fold in lemon juice and zest.
  3. Toss fresh blueberries with a small amount of all-purpose flour, then fold them gently into the cake batter.
  4. Evenly divide the batter among the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops with a spatula. Bake for 18–20 minutes.
  5. Once baked, let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. For frosting, beat softened butter until fluffy, then gradually add powdered sugar. Mix in remaining lemon juice and zest, cream, and vanilla.
  7. Assemble the cake by layering it with frosting between each layer, then frost the top and sides.
  8. Garnish with extra blueberries and lemon slices, then serve.
