  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast, and 2 teaspoons of salt. Gradually pour in 1 and ½ cups of warm water, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
  2. Lightly flour a clean surface and turn the sticky dough out onto it. Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes, adding flour as needed to prevent sticking.
  3. Once kneaded, shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp towel and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  4. After the first rise, gently punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or smaller pieces. Let it rest for another 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place a shallow pan on the bottom rack of the oven to hold water for steam.
  6. Make slashes on the dough surface and bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Once baked, remove the bread and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 45 minutes before slicing.
