Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle in active dry yeast and let it foam for about 5-10 minutes.
  2. To the yeast mixture, add all-purpose flour, eggs, melted butter, and salt. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for 8-10 minutes.
  3. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out shapes with a donut cutter.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F. Fry the donuts for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk and sugar. Whisk in egg yolks, vanilla bean seeds, and cornstarch, then cook until thickened.
  7. Using a piping bag, carefully inject the cooled custard filling into each donut.
  8. Dust the donuts with powdered sugar and serve warm or at room temperature.
