Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup of chopped fresh strawberries, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir gently and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes until the strawberries soften and release their juices. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp, then set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Brew a shot of espresso using your espresso machine, or prepare 1/4 cup of strong brewed coffee using a coffee maker.
  3. In a separate saucepan, pour in 3/4 cup of milk and warm it over low heat, stirring gently. Add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract and heat until steaming, about 3–5 minutes.
  4. In your coffee mug, add 1 tablespoon of the prepared strawberry syrup at the bottom. Pour in the warm espresso or brewed coffee over the syrup, gently stirring to combine.
  5. Carefully pour the warmed milk over the espresso mixture in the mug, allowing some froth to rise to the top for a creamy finish.
  6. Top your Strawberry Shortcake Latte with a dollop of whipped cream and drizzle extra strawberry syrup on top. Add shaved chocolate if desired before serving warm or over ice.
