Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup of chopped fresh strawberries, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir gently and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes until the strawberries soften and release their juices. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp, then set aside to cool slightly.
- Brew a shot of espresso using your espresso machine, or prepare 1/4 cup of strong brewed coffee using a coffee maker.
- In a separate saucepan, pour in 3/4 cup of milk and warm it over low heat, stirring gently. Add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract and heat until steaming, about 3–5 minutes.
- In your coffee mug, add 1 tablespoon of the prepared strawberry syrup at the bottom. Pour in the warm espresso or brewed coffee over the syrup, gently stirring to combine.
- Carefully pour the warmed milk over the espresso mixture in the mug, allowing some froth to rise to the top for a creamy finish.
- Top your Strawberry Shortcake Latte with a dollop of whipped cream and drizzle extra strawberry syrup on top. Add shaved chocolate if desired before serving warm or over ice.
