- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add olive oil, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Grease a bowl with olive oil, place the kneaded dough inside, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour.
- Mix softened butter with minced garlic and dried Italian herbs until combined.
- Punch down risen dough, roll into a 12x18 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread herb butter over the dough, sprinkle cheese and parsley, then roll tightly and pinch seams.
