Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by pouring 4 cups of water into a pot and adding 2 tablespoons of green tea leaves along with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. Bring this mixture to a vigorous boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the tea simmer gently for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Next, carefully pour the tea back and forth between two pots to introduce oxygen, transforming it into a lighter shade of red.
- Gradually introduce 2 cups of whole milk while continuously stirring the tea until it transitions to a soft pink.
- After the simmering, sprinkle in 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of crushed cardamom, mixing thoroughly.
- Let the chai simmer gently on low heat for an additional 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Carefully pour the Kashmiri Pink Chai into cups and optionally garnish with crushed nuts.
