Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by pouring 4 cups of water into a pot and adding 2 tablespoons of green tea leaves along with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. Bring this mixture to a vigorous boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the tea simmer gently for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Next, carefully pour the tea back and forth between two pots to introduce oxygen, transforming it into a lighter shade of red.
  4. Gradually introduce 2 cups of whole milk while continuously stirring the tea until it transitions to a soft pink.
  5. After the simmering, sprinkle in 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of crushed cardamom, mixing thoroughly.
  6. Let the chai simmer gently on low heat for an additional 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
  7. Carefully pour the Kashmiri Pink Chai into cups and optionally garnish with crushed nuts.
