Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Start by snipping two large handfuls of fresh mint from your garden, rinse thoroughly under cool water, and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, pour in 3 to 3½ quarts of cold water and bring it to a rapid boil.
  3. Add the washed mint to the pot and cover, letting it steep for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. After steeping, use a slotted spoon to remove the mint leaves and press against the pot to extract flavor.
  5. While the tea is hot, add sugar to taste, stirring until completely dissolved.
  6. Fill a gallon pitcher one-third full with ice, strain the mint-infused tea into it, and adjust strength if desired.
  7. Serve in tall glasses filled with ice and garnish with fresh mint or a slice of lemon.
