Preparation Steps
- Start by snipping two large handfuls of fresh mint from your garden, rinse thoroughly under cool water, and set aside.
- In a large pot, pour in 3 to 3½ quarts of cold water and bring it to a rapid boil.
- Add the washed mint to the pot and cover, letting it steep for 5 to 10 minutes.
- After steeping, use a slotted spoon to remove the mint leaves and press against the pot to extract flavor.
- While the tea is hot, add sugar to taste, stirring until completely dissolved.
- Fill a gallon pitcher one-third full with ice, strain the mint-infused tea into it, and adjust strength if desired.
- Serve in tall glasses filled with ice and garnish with fresh mint or a slice of lemon.
