  2. Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat for about 5–7 minutes until browned. Drain excess grease and stir in the softened cream cheese.
  3. Spread thawed hashbrowns evenly in the prepared baking dish. Season lightly with salt and black pepper.
  4. Spoon the creamy sausage and cream cheese mixture over the hashbrowns, spreading it evenly.
  5. Whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth. Pour it over the casserole.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the casserole.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes until eggs are set and cheese is bubbly.
