- Rinse the rice under cold water until water runs clear, then drain well.
- In a large pot, melt the butter or heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried parsley, stirring for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the rinsed rice to the pot, stirring gently to coat each grain and toast for about 2 minutes until slightly golden.
- Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and soy sauce. Stir well and bring to a rolling boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Turn off heat and let the rice sit for 5 minutes then fluff with a fork.
- Stir in any optional ingredients and serve warm.
